Ages 7 – 9: 6 week course 6 February - 13 March Tuesday 3.30 – 5.00 pm

Venue: Art Cell, 28 Helwick Street, Wanaka
Price: $120 includes art materials (5 kids per class). Additional costs (greeting cards $5 per card)
Bring: Apron or old shirt to paint in. Afternoon tea
Goal: Your child is able to work/play in a stimulating, creative environment where they have fun, express themselves and meet and make like-minded friends.
Introductions. Art tour and discussion of the art work show-cased at the Art Cell Gallery. Introduction to photography and making greeting cards. Make an adornment using recycled objects.
Art tour and discussion of the art work show-cased at the Art Cell Gallery. A discussion about painting and the secrets to what makes a great work. Discussion about recycling objects for new potential works or just use as containers to work from. Make a work using Indian Ink and learning new techniques.
Discussion about colour, composition and constrast. Preparation for an oil painting. Gesso and applying the foundation stage.
Discussion on mediums and tools. Stage two of oil painting. Applying the oil paint to new work. Learning about painting techniques and methods of cleaning up. Discussion on paint, toxins and poisons and alternative healthier methods.
Stage three of oil painting. Making the painting pop, giving it its character, x factor.
Making final adjustments to painting. Photographing artworks and preparing greeting cards for print.
